On Monday, the UAW stated that the Tennessee Volkswagen Chattanooga plant workers are seeking an election to unionize.
According to the UAW, a supermajority of eligible workers have signed union cards in the span of three months, and have filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board to vote to join the union.
This isn't the first time the UAW has tried to represent workers from the VW Chattanooga plant. Two past attempts have failed, with the most recent ending in a 833-776 vote against unionization in 2019.
As it stands, the NLRB says it has received the union election petition for 4,300 employees at the plant. If both sides fail to agree on election details, a pre-election hearing will be held by the NLRB on March 26.
